About Artist Catherine Neville
I am a Glasgow based artist with a deep love for drawing buildings—especially the iconic Glasgow tenements and backcourts that define the heart and soul of our city. Working primarily in pastels and watercolours, I capture the unique character and charm of Scotland’s urban landscapes, drawing inspiration from the rich architectural heritage of Glasgow, Stirling, Edinburgh, Perth, and beyond.
Much of my artwork is influenced by vintage black-and-white photographs of Glasgow, which beautifully preserve the spirit of bygone days. My illustrations aim to evoke a sense of Scottish nostalgia, telling visual stories of the city’s past while celebrating its present.
In addition to my cityscapes, I create cartoon illustrations that blend humour with local culture. One of my proudest creations is The Wildcats: Pure Bravado—a charming illustrated book about Scottish tenement cats who speak in authentic Glaswegian Scots.
As a sole artist and independent creator, every piece I make is a personal labour of love. I’m always sketching, painting, and dreaming up new projects—and I look forward to sharing many more artworks with you soon.
Whether you're a fellow Glaswegian, a lover of Scottish architecture, or simply someone who appreciates heartfelt, locally-inspired art—thanks for visiting!
