About Catherine
I've always loved drawing, especially buildings and the character they bring to a place. Living in Glasgow, I'm never short of inspiration. The city's tenements, closes and backcourts have a charm all of their own, and I find myself returning to them again and again in my work.
Over the years I've built up a collection of drawings and paintings featuring places across Scotland, including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling and Perth. However, Glasgow will always be my first love. I enjoy looking through old black and white photographs of the city and often use them as inspiration for my artwork.
Most of my work is created using pastels and watercolours. I enjoy capturing the details that people remember, whether that's a familiar street corner, a favourite building or a glimpse of a city that's changed over time.
Alongside my artwork, I also enjoy creating cartoons. One of my favourite projects was writing and illustrating The Wildcats: Pure Bravado, a book about a group of Glasgow tenement cats who speak in proper Glaswegian Scots and get themselves into all sorts of adventures.
Everything you see here has been created by me, usually with a cup of tea nearby and several ideas waiting their turn. I am always working on new drawings, paintings and projects, and I hope you enjoy looking around the site as much as I've enjoyed creating the artwork.
Thank you for visiting.
